Foo Fighters To Perform At 2011 MTV Movie Awards

The Foo Fighters are often known for crafting entertaining videos that feel like mini movies. But when they take the stage on June 5 at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards the Foos will leave the movie-making to the pros while they focus strictly on rocking as their new single, "Walk."
It's the first appearance at the Movie Awards by the Foos since 2005, and they join an already star-studded line up that includes fellow performers Lupe Fiasco and Trey Songz hooking up for the first TV performance of their song "Out of My Head," followed by Lupe solo on "The Show Goes On."
The 2011 MTV Movie Awards will be hosted by actor/comedian Jason Sudeikis and will be broadcast live from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, on Sunday, June 5, at 9 p.m. ET on MTV.
The list of presenters on the show keeps growing too, currently including Ryan Reynolds, Blake Lively, Steve Carell, Emma Stone, Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, Patrick Dempsey, Cameron Diaz, Jason Segel, Jesse Eisenberg, Aziz Ansari, Danny McBride, Nicki Minaj, Selena Gomez, Leighton Meester and Katie Cassidy, with more appearances and performers to be announced soon.
"The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" leads the Golden Popcorn nominations this year with eight nods — including Best Movie, Best Fight and Best Kiss — narrowly besting the dream thieves of "Inception" (seven noms) and the wizards of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" (six noms). All three films have been nominated for Best Movie and will compete with "Black Swan" (four nods) and "The Social Network" (five nods) for the night's top prize.

The Fame Monster shows no sign of losing her powers. In a showbiz week that was supposed to be full of celebrations marking Oprah Winfrey's last ever TV chat show, she was overwhelmed by sound of the Lady Gaga machine effortlessly shifting through the gears. In advance of the release on Monday of her second album, Born This Way, the star arrived at one gig in a gold coffin, sporting a fake pregnant belly. She tweeted a picture of herself cosying up to Justin Timberlake, setting the gossip magazine machine ablaze. And on Wednesday, Winfrey received the final kick in the teeth. Forbes magazine placed Lady Gaga in the number-one position in its Celebrity Power List, knocking the US host off the top spot for only the third time in seven years.
Judging by the rather convoluted way in which Forbes audits celebrities for their top 100, one suspects the Power Listis more concerned with grabbing headlines than specifically pinpointing who is and isn't a powerful celebrity - or what such power means. After all, according to this list, the golfer Tiger Woods is still the eighth most powerful celebrity in the world - despite not winning a tournament since 2009, being dumped by some of his sponsors after his well-publicised misdemeanours and generally looking a bit grumpy about his swing.
Still, the Celebrity Power List is an interesting exercise in that it isn't purely concerned with income, like most ofForbes's other lists designed to track the rich and famous. It also takes into consideration media visibility - a star's exposure in print, television, radio, online and social media - and feeds the data through complex computer programs to come up with the results.

The fact Lady Gaga came out on top isn't so much a confirmation of her star power (although the shockingly obvious product placement in her videos tells its own story) as it is a signal of how modern celebrity is changing. As Dorothy Pomerantz says in the Forbes article announcing this year's winners and losers, garnering influence now means that having a grasp of social media's benefits and reach is a must.
So Gaga is top not just because her Monster Ball tour was the most financially successful undertaking by a debut artist ever, but because she has cajoled her army of online fans into believing in what she does and stands for. She has 32 million Facebook "friends" who love the way this mainstream pop star appears to speak to confused, alienated teenagers and cool kids alike. Her 10 million Twitter followers even have a name - Little Monsters - and it's these people who powered the recent single Born This Way into the record books, downloading it one million times in just five days.

It's not all bad news for the old-school entertainers, though - Oprah Winfrey is still at number two and Elton John at number five. But perhaps their time is coming to a gentle end, replaced by teenage juggernauts such as Justin Bieber. The 17-year-old is number three in the Forbes chart and, as Pomerantz says, "if this were 10 years ago, Bieber would still be paying his dues in small clubs and schools, but thanks to the internet, he's a sensation."
It's an interesting assertion because the internet certainly did exist 10 years ago. But in 2001, Britney Spears might have been the most searched-for person on the web, but she still relied on releasing music, touring and the odd Pepsi commercial to keep her currency high. Essentially, she existed before Facebook, Twitter or, indeed, iTunes and YouTube - and these days, celebrity is achieved by being constantly accessible and meticulously interacting with a fan base. Bieber wasn't discovered at a talent show: his family were canny enough to upload a video of him singing as a 12-year-old to YouTube, and they continued to feed his burgeoning fan base with new material that could be commented on. His third single, Baby, now holds the YouTube record of a frankly incredible 500 million views.
Selena Gomez congratulates Justin Bieber with a big kiss as he scoops SIX Billboard awards

She might have been sitting next to her boyfriend's mother, but that didn't stop Selena Gomez giving Justin Bieber a big kiss at the Billboard Music Awards last night.

The young couple couldn't hide their affection for each other, as Bieber scooped six awards last night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Selena, 18, followed up the kiss with a big hug, before 17-year-old Bieber went to collect his gong in a sparkling gold tuxedo jacket.

Beyonce's Billboard Music Awards Show Strikingly Similar To Year-Old Performance From Italian Singer

Many were impressed when Beyoncé thanked fired Destiny's Child members LeToya Luckett and LaTavia Roberson in her Billboard Music Awards acceptance speech Sunday night when she received the Millennium Award. But her acknowledgmentsincluded a major omission: Italian singer, dancer, actress, and television host Lorella Cuccarini, who appears to have inspired Beyoncé's show-stealing performance of her new song "Run The World (Girls)."

In February 2010, Lorella took the stage at the 60th Sanremo Music Festival in Italy and delivered a show before a white screen and digital accompaniments that has drawn undeniable comparisons to Beyoncé's Billboard Music Awards performance.

As Lorella danced, the backdrop was filled with computerized birds, a bouncing ball, a red staff, a set of wings, a series of drums, and an army of choreographed clones, all of which also appeared in Beyoncé's set.
'Teach Me How To Dougie' Rapper Fatally Shot

Mante "M-Bone" Talbert, a member of the popular rap group Cali Swag District, was fatally shot Sunday night in Inglewood, California, the Inglewood Police Department confirmed to Yahoo! Music.
Talbert is featured on the song and in the music video for the group's hit "Teach Me How To Dougie." The dance sparked a national craze and has been emulated by Michelle Obama, Beyonce, Chris Brown, Kim Kardashian, and numerous professional athletes.
Cali Swag District discuss the origins of the Dougie
The tragedy occurred after 10:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Lieutenant Steve Overly. "The victim Mr. Mante Ray Talbert was sitting in a vehicle on the 400 block of north LaBrea," Overly said. "An unknown vehicle pulled alongside of him. An armed gunman from that vehicle fired into Mr. Talbert's vehicle, striking him two times. He was shot in the head, transported to a nearby hospital, and later pronounced deceased."
Reports that a red vehicle was involved have not "quite been confirmed," according to Lieutenant Overly.
"Mante, aged 22, was the comedic entertainer of Cali Swag District, and was an inspiration to his family, friends and fans. He was a hardworking, passionate artist and dancer that will be deeply missed," a spokesperson for the group said in a statement.
The statement asks that anyone with information contact the Inglewood Police Department.
Recently, the group discussed its excitement seeing Michelle Obama doing the Dougie dance with junior high school students. The Dougie is one of the dances Beyonce performs in her "Move Your Body" video created in support of Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" healthy eating and exercise campaign.
"We would have never imagined seeing the first lady out there getting her Dougie on," said group member C-Smoove. "It's an honor."

Inside 'American Idol' Finale, Fans Pray For Lauren Alaina Victory

But Scotty McCreery supporters are the most vocal (and have the most posters) in L.A.'s Nokia Theater.

LOS ANGELES — More than an hour before the live telecast of Tuesday night's (May 24) "American Idol" performance finale, nearly every seat in the house was filled. Clearly, no "Idol" fan lucky enough to snag a ticket wanted to miss a beat of this year's Southern-fried showdown.
"What'd you say? You love her? She's your Southern Belle? Security! Keep an eye on this guy," the warm-up comic joked, while having a back-and-forth conversation with a Lauren Alaina fan during one of the show's breaks.

Judging by the signage inside the Nokia Theater in downtown L.A., where the showdown was taking place, many of the people hooting and hollering were voting for Scotty McCreery. Judging by the loudest screams, however, many of the people inside of the concert hall were rooting for judge Steve Tyler.
Audience members carried colorful posters that proclaimed Scotty a superstar, with some young girls asking him to be their prom date. A small group of Alaina fans huddled together in the theater, bowed their heads and prayed for who they hoped would win the competition.
During the breaks, the night's MC passed out Scotty McCreery T-shirts and Lauren Alaina poster boards to eager fans. One small group of fans brought with them a vintage Aerosmith album and came armed with bright yellow posters asking Tyler to sign it for them.
There was signage all around the theater warning people not to bring in cell phones, as they might be distracting, but there was nothing preventing them from bringing in a shrill whistle. A group near the mezzanine blew their whistles in unison at the end of every round, harmonizing with the ear-piercing screams of fans shouting the name of their favorite finalist.
In the end, the judges called it for Alaina, but the Nokia crowd was a Scotty-leaning bunch.
Vishal-Shekhar Bag 'Dirty' Over Pritam

Vishal Dadlani and Shekhar Ravjiani are on a roll! The musical duo has already received positive reactions to the trailers of Bbuddah... Hoga Tera Baap and are in the news for their Acapella collaboration with Amitabh Bachchan. Not just that, the pair has just added another film to their impressive kitty. Though Pritam was expected to work on the music of Ekta Kapoor's The Dirty Picture, the latest news is that Vishal-Shekhar have been signed on instead for the Milan Luthria film.

This is the first time that the music directors will be working with Ekta Kapoor and Balaji. Though they had been approached to compose the music for Shor In The City, it didn't work out and the film ultimately went to another B'Town pair, Sachin-Jigar. Vishal-Shekhar have collaborated with Milan previously on the highly successful soundtrack of Taxi No. 9211 and the Naseeruddin Shah-Vidya Balan starrer will be their second film together.

The Dirty Picture
, which incidentally goes on floors today, also stars Emraan Hashmi and Tusshar Kapoor and is based on the life of the late Silk Smitha. The soundtrack will consist of five songs including a groovy dance number in typical Vishal-Shekhar style.
Pink Gives Birth To Baby Girl With Carey Hart

Pink has given birth to a baby girl with husband Carey Hart.
"We are ecstatic to welcome our new beautiful healthy happy baby girl, Willow Sage Hart," the singer tweeted late Thursday (June 2). "She's gorgeous, just like her daddy.
After rumors about her pregnancy surfaced in the fall, Pink confirmed the happy news on "The Ellen DeGeneres" show in November. Telling the talk-show host that she's "glowing," Pink added, "I'm eating for two these days. ... I worked for it. ... It was not an 'Oops!' "
Pink explained that she and Hart hadn't responded to the speculation in the week since the rumors first emerged because she had suffered a miscarriage in the past. "I was just really nervous," Pink said on the show. "I have had a miscarriage before, but if I was going to talk about it with anyone, it was going to be with you."
Before the "Ellen" appearance, the doctor had warned Pink that she would have a baby girl, but the pop star didn't want to believe it at the time. "I'm terrified, because she thinks it's a girl! My mom has always wished me a daughter just like me. I'm terrified one of us will go to jail."
Pink and Hart married in January 2006, separated in early 2008, and then got back together in the spring of 2009. Willow Sage is the first baby for both celebrities.
