The Hot plus sized models of Vogue Italia June 2011
There's much I could remark on and sensationalise around the weight debate when a photo shoot is entitled Belle Vere (Real Beauties) and features three plus sized models, but I shan't go there. In one way that would only serve to further cement the chasm; and isn't the point of a magazine's use of a variety of body shapes and sizes that it should be seamless, not something to be treated with fanfare? After all, a fashion magazine is meant to inspire clothing and accessory choices, not body sizes (even if the two do sometimes meet with a wink and a nudge).
Suffice to say that, with Crystal Renn having weight-dropped her way out of the plus-size title, the space has opened up for a flock of new curvaceous beauties. Photographed for the June 2011 issue of Vogue Italia, models Candice Huffine, Tara-Lynn, Marquita Pring and Robyn Lawley are captured as confident and sensual in classic lingerie with a twist of fetish.
The photo shoot's real forte, however, comes courtesy of the well practiced craft of photographer Steven Meisel. His lens seems to skirt around the weight debate, sensualising each photo and model and seldom letting anything but feminine beauty draw your eye into each photograph.
