Best everyday Diet For Women

Although healthy foods provide nutritional benefits to people of all ages, ethnicity and genders, certain types of food may be particularly beneficial for women. Science has revealed that certain foods may help prevent the diseases and symptoms women are prone to such as heart disease, osteoporosis, breast cancer and hot flashes.
1. Broccoli

Broccoli is practically unrivaled among all foods when it comes to protecting against cancer. Its powerful phytonutrients not only help neutralize carcinogens, but they also stimulate detoxifying enzymes that help the body rid itself of cancer-causing and other harmful toxins. Indole-3-carbinol, another compound found in broccoli, is particularly healthy for women; it's been shown to reduce the risk of breast and cervical cancers and helps suppress the spread of existing cancer. This green vegetable also happens to be one of the richest food sources of the flavonoid kaempferol, which has shown protective benefits against ovarian cancer.
What's more, broccoli is a superior source of folate, a B vitamin that's needed for making and protecting DNA, producing new blood, forming new cells, and synthesizing protein.
Folate is one of the most essential nutrients for pregnant women. It supports proper development of the fetal nervous system and protects against neural tube (birth) defects. Second, research shows that women are twice as likely as men to experience depression, and numerous studies have linked folate deficiency with depression. The good news: There's also evidence showing that boosting folate levels can increase serotonin levels and improve symptoms of depression.
An added bonus: As a natural diuretic, broccoli helps reduce bloating and water retention associated with premenstrual syndrome.
2. Onions

Onions have many healing and health-promoting properties: They're anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and a natural blood thinner. Rich in chromium, vitamin C, and dietary fiber, onions are also a good source of manganese, vitamin B6, tryptophan, folate, and potassium.
This bulbous vegetable is used to combat cancer, arthritis, and osteoporosis, and it helps fight infections, colds, fevers, and asthma. Onions also help prevent constipation, increase blood circulation, improve gastrointestinal health, promote heart health, and are thought to help lower blood pressure and triglycerides.
They're particularly good for women, who are four times as likely as men to develop osteoporosis—and who are at even higher risk for osteoporosis during and after menopause. Onions help prevent bone loss by destroying osteoclasts, a type of bone cell that's responsible for the breakdown of bones. In effect, onions work like bisphosphonates, a type of medication that's commonly prescribed to treat or prevent bone disease. But unlike those potent drugs, onions bust up osteoclasts without dangerous side effects. And, like broccoli, onions are a potent cancer-fighting food; high onion consumption has been linked to a whopping 25 percent reduced risk of breast cancer and a 73 percent reduced risk of ovarian cancer
3. Leafy Greens

Leafy greens such as kale, spinach, watercress, cabbage, turnip greens, collard greens, and arugula share similar nutrient profiles, featuring impressive scores of vitamins K, A, and C; calcium; potassium; beta-carotene; manganese; folate; magnesium; iron; and dietary fiber.
Well-known research tracking 66,940 women enrolled in the Nurses' Health Study found a 40 percent decrease in the incidence of ovarian cancer in women with the highest dietary kaempferol intake as compared to women with the lowest intake. Along with broccoli, kale is one of the best sources of kaempferol—which has been associated with a reduced risk of heart disease. Kaemperfol is also found in tea as well as in Brussels sprouts and other greens.
Spinach is extremely high in iron, which protects the immune system and helps the body produce energy. It's especially important for menstruating and pregnant women, who require higher levels of this nutrient. However, iron deficiency is one of the most common nutrient deficiencies for all women. Iron deficiency causes anemia and low energy due to decreased oxygen being delivered to the cells. You can find iron in most leafy greens; other good sources include chard, mustard greens, and romaine lettuce.
Dark leafy greens like Swiss chard, spinach, kelp, and turnip greens are also excellent sources of magnesium, which plays a significant role in many key biological processes. This miracle mineral has been credited with a slew of health benefits, including lowering blood pressure, strengthening the immune system, strengthening bones, aiding in sleep, relaxing muscles, and relieving stress and anxiety.
Magnesium has been shown to reduce the severity and recurrence of migraine headaches. And a study of 60 women with urinary urge incontinence found that magnesium supplementation improved the symptoms of overactive bladder in nearly half of participants. Magnesium also aids in calcium absorption, playing a significant role in preventing osteoporosis; several studies on humans have shown that magnesium helps maintain bone mineral density.
Depression has been linked to low levels of calcium and magnesium, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that a study comparing the bone mass of depressed premenopausal women to their nondepressed peers found that the depressed women had reduced bone mass and the most thinning in their hip bones, putting them at higher risk of fractures.
4. Beans

No matter what type of bean you choose, each tiny package is bursting with a rich array of nutrients. Beans are an incredibly rich source of folate, fiber, tryptophan, protein, iron, magnesium, and potassium, and they've been linked to a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and breast cancer.
Hands-down one of the best food sources of fiber you can find, one cup of cooked pinto beans contains nearly 15 grams of fiber (along with a score of other essential nutrients)-but you'll find plentiful fiber in all bean varieties. Fiber is a wonder nutrient that fills you up, regulates digestion, lowers LDL ("bad") cholesterol, helps control weight, and has a preventive effect on diabetes and heart disease.
Potassium is vital to the health of every type of cell in our bodies, and you can find good amounts of this mineral in lima, pinto, and kidney beans. Potassium plays an essential part in bone strength, muscle function, and nerve function. Numerous studies have shown a positive link between dietary potassium intake and bone mineral density in pre-, peri- and postmenopausal women, suggesting an important role in preventing osteoporosis in all women.
In addition, the Nurses' Health Study, which recorded data from 91,731 female participants over a 12-year period, found that women with the highest dietary potassium intake were only 65 percent as likely to develop symptomatic kidney stones as compared to their peers with the lowest dietary potassium intake.
Beans and other foods high in tryptophan can help regulate appetite, improve sleep patterns, and boost your mood.
Like other beans, soybeans are an excellent source of dietary fiber. And just one cup of cooked soybeans also provides a whopping 29 grams of protein. Furthermore, studies have linked the isoflavones found in soybeans with improved bone density in postmenopausal women who previously had low bone mass; researchers believe these compounds may play a significant role in preventing bone fractures. Soy isoflavones have also been credited with easing menopausal hot flashes.
5. Wild Salmon

Wild salmon is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin D, and iron, and it's a high-quality source of protein. A word of caution: Independent studies comparing the nutritional content of wild and farmed salmon showed the farmed variety had drastically reduced levels of protein and healthy omega-3 fats. Farmed salmon were also found to have significant levels of carcinogenic substances and other toxins, as well as higher levels of inflammatory omega-6 fats. If you're eating for health, opt for the wild variety.
Salmon is one of the few food sources naturally rich in vitamin D, which is needed to absorb calcium, maintain proper levels of calcium in the blood, and promote normal bone growth. Due to these qualities, vitamin D is regarded as an important nutrient in helping prevent osteoporosis. Sockeye salmon scores the highest in vitamin D; a four-ounce serving of sockeye provides 739 IU of vitamin D-compared to Chinook salmon, which provides 411 IU for the same size serving.
Vitamin D's benefits extend beyond good bones, however. Medical and health experts now recognize this nutrient as playing an essential role in overall health. Unfortunately, vitamin D deficiency is a widespread problem that has been linked to depression and multiple sclerosis, two conditions that women are at a higher risk for than men. Researchers have additionally linked low levels of vitamin D with obesity and an increased risk of type 2 diabetes.
Our bodies don't produce essential fatty acids, so we must get them from our diet. Wild salmon is exceptionally rich in heart-healthy omega-3 essential fatty acids, which guard against inflammation, reduce the risk of strokes, lower blood lipids, boost HDL ("good") cholesterol, decrease blood pressure, and help prevent heart disease. Omega-3s might be fats, but-in moderation-they're actually pretty figure-friendly: Not only do they slow digestion, which means you feel satiated for longer, but they may also help get rid of belly fat. Several studies link consumption of omega-3s with reduced abdominal fat. Other benefits of omega-3s include a reduced risk of breast cancer and improved brain function. Some research suggests that omega-3s may be helpful in treating depression, although further research is needed in this area.
6. Walnuts

A 2008 study performed by the American Institute for Cancer Research found that eating two serving of walnuts each day is directly linked to the prevention of breast cancer, along with the reduced growth of tumors in the breast. Since women are at risk for breast cancer, adding walnuts to their diet is an important step to take toward prevention.
7. Cranberry Juice

According to Cooking Light's Callahan, cranberry juice helps prevent and treat urinary tract infections in women. Callahan reveals that cranberry juice contains certain antioxidants known as proanthocyanins which keep the infection-causing bacteria from sticking to the bladder walls where it can breed infection.
8. Milk and Lowfat Yogurt

According to Nursingdegree.net, lowfat yogurt is one of the top 100 foods that women should be eating, along with milk and other calcium-rich foods. Foods high in calcium are important for women since they fortify and strengthen the bones, which decreases and may even prevent osteoporosis later in life.

2. Boots Are Made for Walkin'

Rihanna rocks her knee-high boots while she belts on stage, sans pants. Even though she's not wearing a whole heck of a lot, she still manages to look classy, not trashy. It's a big feat.
. Sparkle and Flow

Ke$ha is a newcomer to the pop tart scene with her hit "Tick Tock,"but looks like she's fitting in just fine. Sparkly tights? Check. Knee-high boots? Check. No pants? Check. Insane hair? Check. Yeah, we'd say she's doing just fine. She even brushes her teeth with a bottle of Jack. Oh snap.

Lady Gaga is her own brand of sexy. It's unconventional, for sure, but she makes it work. Who else could make an outfit and hairdo like this hot? No one. Fact.
5. Blonde Ambition

Christina Aguilera is another old hat when it comes to pop sensations. But, time after time she proves that she's still got it. She's branching out into movies now, starring alongside Cher for a new flick, but we bet music will always be her first love, along with peroxide and red lipstick.

9. Country Cutie

We're not sure country crooner Taylor Swift can really be classified as "sexy," but she is gorgeous and adorable, so she made our list. She's a lot more modest and wholesome than the rest of the pop tarts, but she's definitely got a certain appeal.
10. Oldie But Goodie

This girl's a veteran to the pop tart scene, but Brit still has what it takes to pull off a rhinestone bra and bootie shorts with boots. She's a trainwreck sometimes, but she always puts on a great show. It's she lucky? That Hollywood star.

11. Trapeze If You Please

Pink really knows how to put on a show. For her last tour, she had a full out acrobatics performance to accompany her big hits. Here she's blindfolded and suspended way high above the crowd. Yikes! We guess all that physical activity keeps her lookin' fly in all that Spandex.
12. Heart and Soul

Katy Perry got her start by singing about kissing girls, and liking it. Now she's in the spotlight because she kissed Russell Brand, liked it, and now they're getting married. Funny how things work out.

Quit drinking or die, doctors tell Amy

Quit drinking or die, doctors tell Amy

Singer Amy Winehouse's doctors have given her an ultimatum - either she should quit drinking or brace herself for the worst.

The 27-year-old is being currently treated at rehabilitation clinic The Priory, where she checked into last week, reports thesun.co.uk.

"This is the last chance saloon for Amy. Doctors have come down hard on her because of the severity of her situation. It's a harsh reality but she had to hear it," said a source.

Winehouse' father Mitch and boyfriend Reg Traviss were also beside her when she was being advised by doctors and they begged her to heed the professionals' advice.

"They are worried about her. Mitch has been down this road before during Amy's drug addiction. But she is there of her own accord this time and wants to sort herself out," the source said.

Winehouse has heard harsh words at the clinic earlier too, during her several stints between 2007 and 2009 when she needed help with her addiction to drugs.

She hopes to sort out her problems for a number of shows in Europe this summer. She is due to perform in Serbia, Greece, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, Hungary and Romania.

Salman is right. There is no guarantee that I won't marry again: Aamir Khan

Salman is right. There is no guarantee that I won't marry again: Aamir Khan

Salman is right. There is no guarantee that I won`t marry again: Aamir KhanAamir Khan has donned the producer's hat once again for Imran Khan-starrer Delly Belly. The actor in conversation with Sreya Basu in Mumbai

Why didn't you direct Delly Belly besides producing it?
Abhinay (Deo) has made Delly Belly the exact way we wanted. The script came to us and we chose him and he has done full justice to it.

As a producer, I am really satisfied the way the film has shaped up, the way Abhinay has brought out the humour, the excitement…he lived up to our faith completely.

Why did you cast your nephew Imran as a lead in the film?
The reason we chose Imran is because he is a thik thak actor (smiles)…a good actor. He suits the character of Tashi to the 'T'.

Is it a remake?
It is not a remake of any film. It is an original film. The script has been written by Akshat Verma, who has been a student of UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles); he studied films there. It's his story.

Delly Belly has a dark script while your production house maintains a clean, family entertainment tag. Are you taking a risk with this film?
Yes you are right in saying that I produce films that are family-oriented, carry social message; mainly for family audience. But for the first time we have made a film which is strictly not for kids. The language used in the film is really indecent.

So, it is also not for those people who prefer to stay away from filthy language. We had applied for an adults (A) certificate (at the Censor Board)…and we got that.

Delly Belly is a very irreverent film; it's aimed at the youth. I loved the film, though personally I don't use foul language.

How did you feel when you read the script for the first time?
I couldn't stop laughing when I read the script for the first time. Akshat was trying for months to approach me with his script.

He came to Mumbai from LA only to meet me. But I was busy shooting for a film and so couldn't meet him. So, he gave the script to my maid at home.

I don't know where the maid kept the script, but somehow it showed up on my table. One day, I was answering some emails on Internet and Kiran (Rao, wife) was waiting for me to get free.

There were about 100-150 scripts on my table and the very first script she picked up for a casual read was this one.

I saw her laughing while reading the script and gradually her laughter got louder and she literally rolled down from the sofa. I asked her: 'What are you reading?'She said this script is really funny and that I should read it too.

We were supposed to go out, but we cancelled our plan. Kiran refused to leave the script half-read. She completed reading the script in 90 minutes.

I immediately started reading it after she was done. I wasted no time in calling Jim (one of the producers) and Akshat, who had just reached LA that time, and said I wanted to meet him. He took the next flight and returned to Mumbai.

Now that the song- Bhaag Bhaag DK Bose- is topping the music charts, who is DK Bose?
At times we face certain andhi-like (stormy) situations in life. That time the only option left to us to flee. It's at that time one sings this kind of song.

Why aren't you disclosing the name of your item girl in Delly Belly?
Till a heroine or item girl is decided, I feel very happy because all actresses smile at me a lot. Wherever I go, girls give me a lot of smiles. So I feel very happy and ask my director to take more time to choose and announce the heroine.

What if you get confused on a heroine given that so many girls are smiling at you?
In that case, I will turn item boy and start dancing.

Shifting from Delly Bellyi, Salman Khan said he will tie up your hands and feet so that you don't marry a third time. You comment to that?
You people (media) asked me how will Salman get married. I said since he himself is not taking any initiative, so we have to tie up his hands and feet and get him married.

Now you are saying he wants to tie up my en there is no guarantee… (that I won't marry again). hand and legs. He is absolutely right. If someone doesn't tie me up, then there is no guarantee…(that I won't marry again).

Farhan's mom not allowed at his concert

Farhan's mom not allowed at his concert

Farhan`s mom not allowed at his concertSecurity guards at Farhan Akhtar's live event didn't recognise mom Honey Irani and made her wait for a long time outside the venue

While director-singer Farhan Akhtar enjoyed the company of an only-girls audience at a Bandra amphitheatre, where he performed some select-numbers from Rock On on Friday, mom Honey Irani was left outside the gates, stranded!

Apparently, the security guards at the venue did not recognise the noted writer-director and only allowed the mother in after some scribes identified her.

FA came to know about her situation only after the performance ended.

He was giving a live show after about two and a half years and Irani wanted to be there to support him.

However, she did not argue at all with the guards who asked her to show the invitation, which she wasn't carrying. That's what we call self-respect, lady!

Sorry RGV, Big B won't do cameos for friends anymore

Sorry RGV, Big B won`t do cameos for friends anymoreThe first film to be affected by this change is Ram Gopal Varma's Department

Amitabh Bachchan will longer do cameos and special appearance, for friends or otherwise. The first film to be affected by this change is Ram Gopal Varma's Department.

The Big B who was earlier supposed to play a relatively small yet powerful role in the film. Now he isn't just the leading man, he also has action sequences planned for him.

Says the source, "Mr Bachchan's role of a gangster-turned politician is now central to the plot in Department. It always was, actually.

But now more scenes have been written. There will be far more visibility for him now."

Some believe that the remarks Varma allegedly passed against Jr B (Abhishek) went a long way in Big B's role being re-written in a footage-friendly fashion.

Varma maintains, "Mr Bachchan's role is as substantial as what he deserves and what is required of him. I begin shooting at the end of June.

I've begun pre-production work on Department. My crew is now handling post-production of Not A Luv Story."

After Puri Jagannath's Bbuddah, which opens in July, it is central roles for the Big B all the way.

Kajol-SRK-Katrina love triangle a YRF flick?

Kajol-SRK-Katrina love triangle a YRF flick?Kajol might play the lead in Yash Chopra's directorial come-back, supposedly starring King Khan and Katrina

Is Yash Chopra planning to recreate Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge magic with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in his directorial next?

We recently spotted the actress at the YRF studios and sources inform that it was more than just a casual visit.

Rumours are rife that the film, a romantic saga, will star SRK and Katrina Kaif in the lead role. However, there is another spot in the movie and YRF's favourite actress, Kads is being considered for it.

The source reveals, "Chopra is very keen to have Kads opposite Shah Rukh. He is quite fond of both of them and loves their onscreen pairing. He feels that they can create the same magic."

"While it's sure that Katrina will star in the film, it could be possible that the movie is a love triangle and that they have approached Kajol to either reprise the other romantic lead or do a cameo," the source further adds.

The filmmaker who has directed movies like Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Silsila, etc. is returning to direction after seven years, with a romantic film. His last directorial venture was Veer Zara in 2004.

AR Rahman stole Jai Ho & bought Oscar: Ismail Darbar

AR Rahman stole Jai Ho & bought Oscar: Ismail Darbar

AR Rahman stole Jai Ho & bought Oscar: Ismail DarbarIsmail Darbar, who has taken open war with A R Rahman, tells us that the Oscar-winning composer also steals credits

At a press conference in Nagpur, music director Ismail Darbar decided to flip open a Pandora's box full of secrets to set the mountain on fire.

He accused internationally acclaimed film composer, A R Rahman for having bribed the Academy officials.

Rahman received two Oscars in 2008 Best Original Score and Best Original Song for his music in Slumdog Millionaire.

Darbar speaking exclusively to Mid-day on what prompted him to make such an outrageous statement ends up making many more against Rahman...

Jai Ho is stolen

"Rahman is a very good businessman, he knows how to handle his public relations. I will yet again say that he has bought the Oscar.

Also, I would like to add that the songs, that he claims to have composed, are not even his! He is just a fantastic salesperson.

I have proof that Jai Ho is not his. It has been done by someone else. All the big film-makers like Subhash Ghai, Mani Rathnam know about it.

But none of them have the guts to come out and speak up, because Rahman is a big name. If he has guts, let him come out and prove me wrong.

I have proofs of him having stolen credit from someone else. I can show those proofs if need be.

Even when Devdas and Saathiya were up for National Awards for music, Saathiya, the music for which is composed by Rahman, won.

First of all, a dubbed movie is never given National Awards. Then, how did Saathiya get it? It is not that I am talking now. I have wanted to talk about this forever. It is just that no one ever asked me about it."

AR has been sincere

Vijay Iyer, one of Rahman's team member laughs at these allegations. He says, "If somebody wants to comment on Rahman, they can. It is a free country.

AR has been sincere to his fans and his music since the last twenty years.

If someone says he has bought the Oscars, how does he explain his Oscar nomination for 127 Hours? We are all proud of everything that he has done."

Sonam ends her war with Shahid`s dadShahid makes the two finally talk out their differences on the director's birthday

Shahid Kapoor has managed to broker peace between co-star Sonam and his father Pankaj Kapur.

On the director's birthday on Saturday night, it was the mausam for making up. The two finally talked out their differences.

Explains an insider, "The dates that Sonam gave her other films went for a toss, thanks to Mausam's erratic schedule.

It was also recently reported that Sonam walked off the sets on noticing lack of facilities at the location.

Sonam and Mausam director Pankaj didn't see eye to eye yet were cordial to each other on the sets. Her showing up to Kapur's surprise birthday party thawed the ice between the two."

Pankaj gave her a big hug when she entered the party. Sonam hugged him back. He looked really happy to see her and she looked at ease chatting with him. Pankaj was even heard praising the actress.

The source adds that the bash in Bandra was organised by Shahid, "It was a surprise party. Sonam, too, decided to let bygone be bygones and came at the time mentioned."

Anil Kapoor's beti came for the party though she was exhausted and hadn't slept for almost 24 hours.

"She had shot the whole day for Mausam and not slept the night before as she rushed to wrap the shoot. People close to Pankaj were heard remarking on how well the girl's parents had brought her up."

What the...

In March this year it was reported that Sonam Kapoor had flown down to Chandigarh for Mausam in the wee hours but on going to the resort she discovered that her room was not reserved.

After an hour, she finally checked into a room, freshened up and arrived at the shooting spot to find that her make-up man, vanity van and spot boy were unavailable.

She then made several calls to the production house and finally decided to leave the sets.

The producers apologised and finally managed to bring her back to the sets to complete the shooting of the song.

My link-up with Brett Lee is a stale new: Preity ZintaBollywood actress Preity Zinta seems to have got quite bored with her constant link-up to Australian fast bowler Brett Lee, who now plays for her Indian Premier League team Kings XI Punjab.

The actress, who was earlier dating industrialist Ness Wadia, took to micro-blogging site Twitter to tell her friends and fans that she is just friends with Lee.

"I think being romantically linked to Brett every year is outdated and stale news now! So sorry to say folks NO NEWS here! FRIENDS yeesss (sic)," posted Preity.

The duo was recently spotted together at a restaurant in Mumbai, and according to reports, they chose to exit separately to avoid paparazzi.

Lee has expressed on many occasions earlier that Preity is his favourite actress.
