Censorboard Scandalized By Lovemaking Scene

Censorboard Scandalized By Lovemaking SceneCensorship rules and their implementation are sometimes hard to digest. They have a way of flummoxing filmmakers when they are least watching. Sagar Ballary however can't complain about the only sex sequence in Bheja Fry 2 being chopped off.

And the reason is not prudery this time. It's a far more pragmatic consideration. Apparently Vinay Pathak tells a love-making couple that they are doing "it" all wrong. And then he goes on to explain to the couple the best positions for "sambhog kriya" (sex play).

The censorboard was scandalized to hear Vinay Pathak instructing the couple how to make love with the best possible results. The censorboard coerced Ballary to edit out the whole 'how-to' sequence.

Getting to the bottom of this lurid-sounding sequence seemed imperative. When we asked Sagar Ballary he admitted the "instructive" love-making had to be removed from Bheja Fry 2.

"You see, for Vinay Pathak's character sex is only for procreation. So when he sees a couple in the act with the woman on top he gently chides them and reminds them that position is not correct for garv-dharan (having a baby). He advises the girl to lie down and make use of a pillow. The censorboard was scandalized.

They told me I can't show the hero telling the couple how to make love with details on garv dharan and other pillow talk. So I've removed the sequence almost entirely. Now, Vinay Pathak sees the couple, walks out, walks back in and says, 'At least lock the door before doing this. 'Almost all the humour is lost. "

The sequence has Vinay Pathak barging in on a couple making love. Vinay Pathak is searching for his friend when he opens a door and sees couple making love, with the woman on top.

Embarrassed he quickly steps out of the room, only to return again to say, 'Dekhiye garv-dharan ke liye yeh aasan uchit nahin hai. Let kar takiye ke prayog kijiye. fayda hoga' (This position is not right for procreation. Lie down and make use of a pillow. It will help). The couple screams at Vinay Pathak to leave. He leaves.

Sagar Ballary who incidentally became a father recently, says he is determined to put the love-making sequence back into the film in its entirety in the DVD.

"It's a hilarious scene and one that had all of us falling off our chairs with laughter. We have to stop taking sex as seriously as Vinay Pathak's character. He thinks sex is only for making babies. We think it's for fun too. I am putting the sequence back in later avatars of the film. "
